Acceleration Of Professors
The presence of full professors at a university is a necessity. Their role is crucial in several aspects, namely enhancing the quality of education, fostering innovation, and building the university's reputation. Major campuses in Indonesia, such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Universitas Hasanuddin, contribute the highest number of full professors in the country.
Unfortunately, UIN Jakarta has not yet been able to compete with other major campuses in Indonesia. As of 2022, this campus had only 82 full professors. By mid-2022, Universitas Hasanuddin already had 318 full professors – the highest number in Indonesia. Even compared to Universitas Andalas, UIN Jakarta still has about 60 fewer full professors.
Looking more closely at the academic positions of the faculty, only 6% of UIN Jakarta’s faculty are full professors. The majority of the faculty still hold the rank of Lektor (82%), while those at the Lektor Kepala level, expected to be the next generation of professors, only make up 17%. Furthermore, faculty at this last level often face obstacles in achieving full professorship due to a lack of internationally reputed indexed scholarly articles.
As a proactive step, the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M) of UIN Jakarta has designed an Acceleration Program for Full Professorship for faculty who are already at the Lektor Kepala rank or who meet the qualifications but lack international journal publications.
Program Objectives
This program aims to facilitate faculty members at UIN Jakarta in achieving the rank of full professor. The focus of the program is to enhance the quality of research and writing of these faculty members so that they can publish in internationally reputed journals. Additionally, the program provides technical guidance on the administrative documents needed for the full professorship application process.
Program Scheme
In principle, any faculty member at UIN Jakarta can apply for this program. However, we prioritize those whose Academic Credit Score (PAK) is already sufficient for full professorship but lacks specific requirements (Scopus indexed journal articles).
Selected faculty members will receive a 3-day coaching clinic under the guidance of young full professors, the Academic Credit Evaluation Team, and personnel staff. In addition, participants will also be accompanied by faculty members who are nearing the completion of their full professorship applications.
Requirements
The faculty members interested in participating in this program must meet the following criteria:
- Doctoral candidates for Full Professor
- Lektor Kepala with 400, 550, and 770 ranks
- Lektor rank with a minimum of 20 years teaching experience
- Having a draft journal article ready for publication
- Recommendation from the faculty dean
- Filling out the registration form (click here)
Timeline
The schedule for the activities is set for October 2023.
